For the first time in the history of the Gravesend Regatta Committee, 2006 saw sponsorship of our skiffs. The
committee is extremely grateful to all our sponsors and other companies who help us with other funding or by just being associated with us. We wouldn't be able to keep the tradition of skiff rowing alive in Gravesend without them.
The four skiffs are sponsored by, The George Inn, Queen Street, The New Inn, Milton Road, The Jolly
Drayman, Love Lane, Gravesend and Viridor Waste Management.
Our safety boat has also aquired a sponsor - Ebbsfleet Screen Printers, Stonebridge Road, Northfleet, suppliers
of our lettering on the sides of our boats.
The George Inn has been involved in sponsoring local regattas for the last 14 years. The Gravesend Regatta
Committee is, therefore, very proud to have their sponsorship again for 2008, as it celebrates it's 162nd year of the Regatta. The George Inn is run by Jan and Gary Williams and is one of the oldest pubs in Gravesend, there having been an inn on the site since 1495. They serve all of your favourite drinks in addition to real ales, in a very friendly atmosphere. In the warmer weather, you can take your drink outside and sit and relax whilst enjoying fantastic views of the river. The George Inn has a licence until 12.00 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
The New Inn was 'welcomed aboard' as a new sponsor for 2007 and their sponsored boat is our fourth boat which
now makes up our full compliment of regatta skiffs. The New Inn, which is currently run by Pip and Clair Nevell was the former home of Dr Folker. In 1780 the inn was sold and renamed the New Inn, perhaps because the licensee was from the New Tavern. The New Inn, was previously a coaching inn and once had a large garden at the rear with a bowling green.
The Jolly Drayman have joined us for 2008 and we are looking forward to our association with them. The Jolly
Drayman is run by Kate and Charlie and it is a public house, restaurant and hotel all in one. It serves a selection of hand pumped ales along with a large selection of other beers. The Jolly Drayman is a traditional oak beamed 'country' style pub with plenty of seating and bar space. It is built on the site of the old Walker's brewery in Wellington Street and is only a stone's throw away from the Gordon Promenade. For more information, please contact them via their website on

2008 sees Gravesend Regatta Committee running and funding the Summer Regatta itself. To enable us to do this
we have had to seek other forms of funding and help.
We are very lucky to have Hart Financial Services, Gravesend as part of this regatta. Hart Financial Services is
a firm of financial advisers based in Gravesend. Which, in addition to the usual services, of mortgages, investment, retirement, and inheritance tax financial planning; offers comparisons of utility companies, current accounts & credit cards, and a unique service to provide foreign currency at better rates than usually available in the 'high street'. Visit the website by using their logo at the bootom of the page or contact them direct on 01474 566670. Or you may click here
We are also very proud to be associated with another local business, namely, Gravesham Trophy Centre. We
are using the Gravesham Trophy Centre exclusively for the supply of all our trophies, which are presented to the race winners at our Annual Presentation. The company was formed in 1991 and started as EME92. It was setup to produce cable samples for leading UK manufacturers. Under it's new banner of Gravesham Trophy Centre, they have widened their services to incorporate the supply of good quality trophies and crystal from an extensive range. Full details can be found on their website by clicking their logo below.
Finally, a huge thank you to our local Edmundsons Electrical of Imperial Business Estate, West Mill, Gravesend
