For the first time in the history of the Gravesend Regatta Committee, 2006 saw sponsorship of our skiffs. In
return for sponsorship, the committee advertises the company name on the side of each skiff and our motor boat. The company logo is also included on our posters and headed paper. Everytime the regattas are reported in the local papers, the accompanying photographs serve as a further advertisement.
2008 and 2009 saw Gravesend Regatta Committee having to run and fund one of it's two Regattas itself. To enable
us to do this we had to seek other forms of funding and help. In 2010, and with the current financial situation no better, the committee is funding it's larger event, The 164th Gravesend Town Regatta. Again, we are looking for outside help and anyone who wishes to make a donation towards keeping the regattas going and the upkeep of the boats, should contact Steve on 07999 604826 or Sue on 07941 937417.
Our skiff sponsors for 2009, were Pulp Friction Ltd, Oscar Nelson Ltd, The Edinburgh Castle and The Crown
and Thistle.
Pulp Friction Ltd was formed in 1995 and is dedicated to the safe and secure shredding and recycling of waste
paper and printed matter. They pride themselves on providing a prompt service in an efficient and friendly manner. Their aim, with every customer, is to forge solid, long relationships and find new, innovative ways to meet their customers' requirements. For more information , please click on the logo below.
Oscar Nelson Ltd is a local company which supplies mooring services for the larger vessels on the Thames,
mostly bulk carriers. They also carry out pilotage for vessels entering Tilbury Docks and have a range of support craft including, workboats, safety boats and a small tug. They are currently working on the Thames Gateway project, which may be the largest construction job on the Thames for over 40 years.
The Edinburgh Castle, Northfleet High Street has been owned by Clive Selves for the last 20 years. There is
accommodation available at modest rates, which can include an evening meal. It is Free House with a varied range of beers and ales and has a darts team as well as a mens' rowing team. Further enquiries can be made on 01474 533893.
The Crown and Thistle, The Terrace, Gravesend has been owned by Keith Miller since June 2007. The pub won
a CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) award in 2003 and is well known for it's large selection of guest ales, including resident ale; Gravesend Shrimper's bitter. The pub has an arrangement with two local restaurants, so if you're feeling peckish, you can call in an Indian or Chinese meal and either eat it in the 'dining area' or take it away. It has a lovely secluded garden with bar-b-ques in the summer and live bands are also a regular feature throughout the year. A unique pub with a friendly atomosphere, it has a strong connection with the river and you can catch up on the latest rowing news as it has both men's and ladies' rowing teams.
Our safety boat has kept it's original sponsor - Ebbsfleet Screen Printers, Stonebridge Road, Northfleet,

We are also very proud to be associated with another local business, namely, Gravesham Trophy Centre. We
are using the Gravesham Trophy Centre exclusively for the supply of all our trophies, which are presented to the race winners at our Annual Presentation. The company was formed in 1991 and started as EME92. It was setup to produce cable samples for leading UK manufacturers. Under it's new banner of Gravesham Trophy Centre, they have widened their services to incorporate the supply of good quality trophies and crystal from an extensive range. 2009 saw all of our skiffs completely refurbished with a new marine coating, which was undertaken by North Kent

The committee is extremely grateful to all our sponsors and other companies who help us with funding or by just
being associated with us. We wouldn't be able to keep the tradition of skiff rowing alive in Gravesend without them. |
